The development of Protaras as a prime holiday destination
is largely due to a major government drive to revive the
island’s tourist industry after the Turkish invasion
of 1974.
Since that time, the resort has experienced a vast growth in
its infrastructure along with an ever increasing number of
international visitors.
In recent years, its growing popularity with tourists has
been responsible for the transformation of Protaras from
just another Mediterranean holiday destination into one of
the most popular resorts in Cyprus.
Often referred to by local residents as Ayia Napa’s
nicer neighbour, Protaras has developed the reputation of
being a beautiful, family orientated seaside resort.

Protaras - For the most relaxing of holidays
|
No stay in Protaras would be complete without a visit
to the fabulous Ocean Aquarium, where well over a thousand
species of sea life can be seen on display.
The Aquarium also features a fascinating recreation of the
sea bed during pre-historic times, as well as numerous reptiles
and even penguins.
On the subject of fish, the resort is also rapidly making
a name for itself on the international fishing scene, with
a number of experienced operators offering game fishing safaris
in the waters surrounding the island or, if called for, even
further afield.
Species caught off the island's shores include Albacore Tuna,
Swordfish and Bonnitos.

One main landmark of Protaras is the church of Ayios Profitis
Ilias, set atop a large hill on the outskirts of the resort.
This beautiful little church is built in the traditional Cypriot
style and provides a fascinating glimpse of the region’s
history, as well as rewarding the long climb to the top of
the hill with absolutely fabulous views of the resort and the
Mediterranean coast.
Our luxurious holiday
villa in Protaras is located only
a few minutes from the resort and its outstanding beaches
in a quiet, rural location surrounded by agricultural land
and offering some truly outstanding views of the Mediterranean
Sea and the Cypriot coastline. For more information about
